I bought this system mainly to listen to music at night. I liked the detachable speakers and added an extension to one so I had sound on either side of my bed. The first thing that failed was the alarm. I stopped using it in the morning to wake up because it was too unreliable. Next, the laser began to read my CDs only intermittently. It even had trouble reading the CD cleaning system. Then I discovered that one of the hinges that lifted the top-loading CD cover began to leak some sticky glue that was coming up from inside the unit. It made a horrible mess that got on some of my disks. When I called the manufacturer, I discovered there was just a 90-day warranty on the unit and they refused to exchange it. They did say I could return it and pay $24 plus shipping costs for a replacement. Since the system only cost $35 initially, it was not worth my time and money to take a chance on another piece of junk. Maybe I happened to get a random defective unit, but I would not recommend this to anyone.
