DREAMCOAT FORMULA HAS CHANGED
I previously would have given this product and enthusiastic 5 stars. I used it for my cocker spaniel for years with excellent results. The reason for the one star is that they have changed the formula without telling the consumer. The way I found out was that my cocker always eagerly licked it up from a bowl. Immediately upon opening a new bottle (going from the old white cap to the new black cap) he refused it. He would take one lick and then back away. I glanced at the ingredients and they seemed similar so I opened another bottle, thinking there may be something wrong with that particular bottle. This also had the new design and black cap. Again it was refused. I then looked closer at the guaranteed Analysis and noticed this: One teaspoon now says it contains 55 IU's of Vitamin A The old bottle said that one ounce contained 5,000 IU's of Vitamin A. Since one ounce contains 6 teaspoons. One teaspoon previously offered 833 IU's of Vitamin A I don't know what else has changed but I wrote to Halo and they did confirm the formula change. This is of particular importance to me because my cocker has an increased need for Vitamin A. Also be aware, most retailers are still referencing the old formula guaranteed analysis on their websites. For all I know it may still be a good and effective product for some but the change is not good for us. Just wanted to pass this on in case others notice a change in either your dog or cat refusing it, or you notice a flare up of skin issues....I always loved this product. This is VERY disappointing! UPDATE>>>01/28/17 I decided to post this update based on a reply asking what I use now. Here's my answer... I am using Dreamcoat. again and It still seems to have the same positive effect as far as I can tell. Here's how I got my little guy to lap it up again. The original formula used to list anise as one of the ingredients. I had read that dogs love the anise flavor. It did have a nice aroma which is now gone. So, I bought Now Foods Anise Oil. You can get it on Amazon. It is very potent. In an 8 oz bottle of Dreamcoat I put 3 to 4 drops and shake it up good. It does the trick, He loves it again. NOW.....I just want to say this. I don't know why Halo stopped putting Anise in the formula. I am hoping that it is safe for dogs. I have searched around and haven't seen anything about it being a problem. I have been doing this for a few years now with no ill effects. So that's my story....Write back if you find out anything different.....
