I've had this water pitcher for over 2 months now and have yet to need to replace the filter and we drink alot of water in my house. The water tastes as good as bottled water. Two things I do not like about this picture: If filled to the top, water leaks out of the handle. When filling the pitcher, sometimes the hole doesn't open and I have to manually push it in. Other than those things, I really like this pitcher and would recommend it. UPDATED 3/17/14 (after owning for 6 months) This morning when taking out my full Mavea pitcher the handle literally BROKE OFF. So of course, my refrigerator and kitchen floor were flooded. Even under the refrigerator and oven. To make matters worse, my 2 small children were crawling around on the floor when it happened so they also got soaked. What a pain to have to deal with first thing in the morning. This pitcher has never been dropped or anything so there was no reason for the handle to just break off. It's like the plastic is just to thin to withstand the weight of a full pitcher. I have filters left over but I will never buy this brand again. It doesn't matter how good it filters your water if something like this could happen at any time. I owned Brita pitchers for years and never had anything like this happen. This Mavea pitcher is NOT RECOMMENDED. I am including pictures of this absurdity.
