waste of money and dangerous
We have a rice-and-beans household so making rice on the daily is important but I didn't want to get a rice maker and add another appliance to the counter. This cooks rice just as quickly and efficiently as a rice maker and is much easier to clean. I cook brown rice and can easily throw in spices or veggies to cook in it. It's big enough for family dinners but can just as easily work in a bachelor pad. Glad I made the switch and freed up some counter space. UPDATE: I loved this the first two times I used it-- perfect and quick results. Then as I continued to cook rice the exact same way with the same ingredients and same measurements, I would get varying results. Sometimes the rice would be cooked but soaked in an inch of water, sometimes it wasn't cooked at all, sometimes it was completely dried out. Today as I was trying, yet again, to have rice ready for dinner, I smelled smoke and when o opened the microwave so much smoke poured out I had to evacuate my family from the house. I don't know how but the plastic of the rice cooker actually melted! My microwave is new and I'm not having any problems cooking other foods, so I know that's not the culprit. Not only am I annoyed that I now have to order out for dinner and that my eyes are burning from smoke, this rice cooker turned out to be a waste of money AND dangerous.
