I loved this machine until the auger broke into several pieces after I'd only used it less than 5 times. The auger is the part that looks like a drill bit and turns. Why in the world this part is made of plastic I'll never understand. I know it was correctly inserted and I was only juicing chopped up carrots. I went online hoping to buy a replacement, expecting to pay about 20$ but the replacements for that piece alone are upwards of 120$, which is 1/3 of the price of the whole juicer. Until I replace it, my juicer just sits there, completely useless. Since the juicer had such high ratings, I'm assuming this was a freak occurrence and I hope it won't happen once I replace the part. But really, with such a sturdy machine, I don't understand why the auger is made of plastic. If I can get the company to replace it at a decent price or send me one that is made of metal and won't break, I'll update this post because we really loved the juicer while it lasted.
