This could have been the best no touch trash can on the market, bit it's got one massive and tragic flaw. I'd surely give this trash can 5 stars if it weren't for the EXTREMELY LOUD and literally VIOLENT cracking/snapping sound it makes every time I close the inner lid after replacing the liner. It sound like plastic exploding, and I just don't trust that the trash can will last because all that stress is sure to break whatever is flexing so terribly out of place as I lift up the lid, then cracking back into it's proper position when closing it again. I've tried pushing, pulling, squeezing and finagling with thing each time I replace the bag, but nothing seems to make a difference in whatever's causing the super loud crack from occurring. I have to imagine it's simply a design issue, but one that wasn't caught because the design never got extensively tested. It took about 2 weeks for ours to start exhibiting this problem. By the way, I'm not talking about the foot pedal operated smaller lid that you use throughput the day... that one didn't have any issues (at least at first), but operated extremely smoothly. However, now that the big cracking has been going on for a while, I'm noticing the smaller foot petal lid has begun creaking/groaning as it finishes shutting. Seriously, that wasn't making any noise at first, and as the big cracking has gotten louder and more extreme, the volume of the groaning has been growing worse as well. It's a real shame, because everything else about this trash can is perfect. It's a great size, shape, material, etc. I was about to buy a second one for recycling, but fortunately procrastinated just long enough for the dreaded cracking to rear it's ugly head. Team Simple Human: what gives? This FLAW was pointed out in MANY other reviews and you claimed it was fixed. Why are you still shipping flawed product??? At $100... I cannot recommend that anyone purchase this thing. I'm a grown man; I ride horses, hunt, shoot and drive fast for fun, but I hate changing the liners on this damn trash can because I'm terrified it's going to either explode or snap my fingers in half. My wife won't even go near it when it's time to change the liner... Until this issue is fully resolved, I recommend everyone look elsewhere for your kitchen trash can needs.
