90% Digital only and requires Origin, no thanks
When I first heard about the "Ultimate C&C Collection" I couldn't wait. I had pipe dreams of having all the C&C games updated to work on newer systems with Windows 7. Saddly, it turns out all the games are digital downloads (even if you buy the retail box) via EA's Origin service, a service that is a mear shadow vs Steam.
Do youself a favor, find C&C the First Decade and then complete your collection by finding the remaining games retail discs. Then do some searching at the fan websites and learn how to get the games up and running on newer systems with some tweaking. Not only will you get physical copies, but you'll also be able to avoid the horrible Origin service and EA's DRM (most of it anyway).
I'll hold off and cross my fingers that EA will release the C&C games for gog.com to use... until then, PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS COLLECTION. EA has to learn that it isn't acceptable for them to retail box digital downloads and then force their download service down our throats.
