I purchased this item on March 23, 2014. I used it casually over the course of six weeks, shredding junk mail and old bills. I was NOT using this machine industrially or heavily. At most, I shredded six pages at a time. One day I was literally trying to shred two pieces of paper when the machine jammed. The shredder kept running, but I could NOT stick paper through the slot. I tried using the reverse feature and other methods to unjam the machine. Nothing budged. I later determined the machine was full, and that the full-sensor never shut the machine off or lit up alerting me to the situation. Because the machine was full, it sucked paper back into itself and jammed it somehow between the blades and the plastic casing, preventing me from inserting new paper. Because of the plastic safety guard I was unable to unjam the machine without breaking the guard off. I called customer service because it was still under warranty. I was told that this is a "known issue" (the sensor failing and the machine jamming permanently). They fully refunded my money, and would not reissue me a replacement. Customer service also candidly stated that "THE MACHINE SHOULD NO LONGER BE FOR SALE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE." Amazon's customer service told me to look for a different shredder, and definitely not repurchase this item. Before the machine jammed, I thought it performed ok. I was not impressed with the plastic guard. It really just got in the way.
