Unnecessary undertones
This show has always had a shock factor, which to say is not a bad thing if done well. The Boys excels at balancing shock value with a pretty solid story. The expanse is the gold standard of story telling and character development. The actors in this show are outstanding and I can’t ding them for anything. Set design, even the flow of the show has been extremely well done since since one. Why the low rating? Something changed, I couldn’t wrap my mind around it at first but I was slowly getting bored with scenes this season and then it hit me. Overused political bias. I’m all for movies and shows integrating messages, even if I don’t agree with them. There is tastefully poking fun and then there is all out hammering it down your throat. This season seems to want to lazily portray this agenda. It’s not original, it’s not even funny, it is lazy. This show, these characters and this wonderful cast deserves betting writers. The next time you have a meeting with the writers and show runners take a moment to 1: be balanced 2: be balanced, 3: let’s make it easy, if you poke fun at one side poke fun of the other. This show got childish in season 3 to the point where you’ll be reaching for the remote to fast forward. The actors who play Homelander, Butcher are so excellent that I won’t stop watching. Starlight has turned a corner and is fun to watch. Everyone else is solid in the background.
