Fitness FAIL
I waited for months for this watch expecting something to actually compete with iwatch on fitness and smart watch capabilities. Nope. The main reason I would wear this over a nice analog watch is for fitness. Its heart rate monitoring is terrible. I have it set to constant auto monitoring but it only does it when I'm not moving, about once an hour at best. It never works when I'm actually moving or exercising. When I attempt to do a force measure when working out it gives an error every time about clean sensor. If I'm sweating at all it will not work, kinda defeats the purpose. My ancient fitbit HR did 10x better on heart monitoring and it knew when I was working out even without logging it. This galaxy watch doesn't even know when I try to log it. It just uses my heart rate from earlier in day and thinks I've done a few steps. I've tried everything short of shaving my arm hair to improve it. I'm throwing in the towel. It's pointless as a fitness watch, especially if you are doing any calorie counting like myfitnesspal. It's a decent smart watch but lacks a way to type using hand drawn characters like iwatch, so unless a canned response works or you can use voice, you can't respond on watch. The battery life is no where near what is advertised. I have to charge mine daily. The only thing it does amazingly well is track sleep but if you wear it at night it will not last but a day on power. It does keep me off my phone and informed during meetings and court without drawing any attention, but it's pointless without reliable fitness tracking. I'm not sold yet on the my fitness health app from Samsung either. UPDATE: After a few program updates nothing has changed. If anything it's worse. Sometimes when I look at the heart rate readings I see they are from 2 days ago. I cannot stress enough, do not buy this for fitness, buy it for smart watch features only. I wish I could have returned this watch but by the time I figured out how bad it was as a fitness watch the return window closed. I love love Samsung products (phones, tv's, tablets, etc) but hate to say it, this is the biggest Samsung disappointment ever (and I used to have the exploding Note 7). I may try Garmin or give up and get an iPhone just for iWatch.
