I bought this item not once, not twice, but three times. In no case did it ever function the first (or any other) time. I was assured by the company that the problem was just a freak issue, but three out of three isn't a freak issue. I have even taken the burner to neighbors' homes to see if I could get the burner to function at other houses. Nope. Save yourself the aggravation and money, and do NOT buy this item. My next attempt will be to see if I can get a full refund, but frankly, I am not optimistic.
