Way too long, ridiculous villains & a terrible ending ....
What a disappointment ! As a big James Bond fan, I am furious as how this movie completely betrays everything we fans love and expect from a James Bond movie. It's as though the producers have purposely gone out of their way to ruin this popular franchise. After the first twenty minutes, which is spectacular and breathtaking, the opening credits come on with a very slow song by Billie Eilish. Let's say we have seen much better graphics in title opening sequences in other James Bond movies. Nothing even remotely interesting or eye-catching here. The song is also an indicator of what's to come : many yawns. Speaking of a yawn, let's talk about the villain played by Rami Malek. I love Rami Malek but he's one of the worst villains in the whole James Bond series. Period. There's no motivation behind his actions and Malek plays him lifeless and bland. With a white mask and wearing a kimono, he is more of a vicious Geisha than a villain. While Javier Bardem in "Skyfall" played a juicy negative character and was really creepy, Malek phones in his lines and mumbles half of his dialogue. Ana de Armas is much more interesting than Malek here and has such a presence, to the point that one wishes she played the bad character to give some life to this never-ending movie. Another ridiculous baddie is "Logan Ash/Smiley", The corrupt CIA agent played by Billy Magnussen. If The filmmakers had asked a clown to play the part, it would have been more convincing. The script is convoluted, contrived and long. A good 30-45 minutes of the movie could be shaved off. The worst part of "No Time to Die" is the horrible ending. What on earth !! What kind of James Bond movie ends like this ?? We don't want realism from James Bond movies, we want a super-hero who doesn't die. The new 007 played by Lashana Lynch doesn't seem to be a good replacement. Want to make a movie with her, fine. Call it by some other name, not James Bond or 007. I was so eagerly waiting for this Bond installment but have to say I am very disappointed and even angry that the producers, in order to attract the younger viewers, have forgotten about the core audience of James Bond movies and have come up with this piece of you know what. I guess all good things come to an end and it's good-bye James Bond for me.
