Dies at 4 months
First off, we loved this coffee maker. It has some really cool features - getting coffee to stay warm for a set period of time, adjusting intensity of the brew, and changing the temperature of the hot plate were just a few of them. Then it died. Four months after we got it. Four months! That's nothing! We were sad, but figured it could be replaced under warranty. And it can. If you have about ten hours to devote to the process. First you'll have to call Braun and describe your problem (ours just wouldn't brew - it would turn on, but then nothing). Then they'll ask for some evidence of the problem and your proof of purchase. They'll want you to email these things (in this case, a screen grab from Amazon and a video of the inaction), and then FOLLOW UP with a phone call. I thought the follow up was weird, but I did it. A case number was assigned, and we were on our way. Next they'll ask you for some further proof that you're not trying to scam them out of a coffee maker - cut the cord, take a picture of the cordless coffee maker, and send it back to them. I did this. Then I waited. Nothing. Finally I called: they must not understand how email works. EVERY email must be followed up with a phone call. Don't forget this step! If you send the email they request, they won't find it until you get someone on the phone to check for it. Great. We have proof that (1) the machine was purchased (2) the machine is broken and (3) the machine is thoroughly disabled. We will process a replacement for you. Just kidding. The replacement will take "10-14 business days" once the replacement department acknowledges they are going to send you a replacement. They will acknowledge it once they get the email from customer service. What's that? You thought Braun would at minimum check their internal emails? No. FOLLOW UP on that email that YOU DID NOT send, too. An acknowledgement email will be sent to you. It will say they have "processed the replacement" for you. In yet another follow up call, you will be told this does under no circumstances mean they have shipped a replacement to you. It means they have processed it. What does that mean? Nobody knows. When you ask for a tracking number you will be told you will have to follow up for that. When? Nobody knows. Maybe give it a few days. It won't be emailed to you - you will need to call for it. AGAIN. All in all, you should have it in 10-14 business days. It's pretty incredible considering prime shipping got it to you in two originally. In the end, I'd just ask for a refund and purchase a new one on Amazon if you really want one. For one thing, your warranty won't be extended past your original purchase date anyway. RIDICULOUS, BRAUN. Get it together.
