The (expensive) re-boot nightmare from hell...
I purchased this, very expensive, wireless router on the basis of the good reviews here, and from the tech folks at the WSJ. But, for me, it's been a nightmare. I used it to replace a Cisco/Linksys E3000 router, which was working OK. This beast I have to reboot the whole system (from my DOCSIS 3.0 Cable modem, all the way to two Roku streaming boxes, an VoIP phone system and a powered 10/100 hub supplying wired Ethernet to three printers) at least 3-4 times a week. Some days it doesn't "see" the printers, some days it does. Most days, I have to reboot my iPhone 6 and my iPad at least once to get video streaming to work. Even my MacBook Pro some days displays a message saying it's had to disable my Internet connection for 1 minute due to a WiFi issue. And I see no examples of extended wireless range, or the mysterious "band-steering" technology. I even printed out all 180 pages of the manual, and have followed its instructions carefully. It works for a day to two, then it's back to "can't connect to printer" or can't "see" my iPhone. I'm writing this on April 1st, but this router is beyond a joke, it's a nightmare. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. ______________________________ UPDATE I updated to firmware FW1.03.B07 on April 2nd as suggested by Manufacturer (even though I had turned on automatic updates). System was OK overnight, but by the next morning, the problems re-appeared. So I clicked on the link provided from my MacBook Pro, and it came back with "Server not found". So I accessed from my iPad, filled in the info. requested, then got an error message saying D-Link was unable to receive my request, and that technicians were looking into it. What a disaster. In my pre-retirement world (engineering at Cisco Systems) we used to call products like this "engineering prototypes". I'm writing this on my iPhone, since as of 7:00am on April 4th, both my MacBook and iPad have no internet access. I'm taking this pile of expensive junk out of my system today.
