Very, very fragile
The good news is that when it works, it works well. Distance is spot on. However, it stopped working after only three months (worked fine one hole, then stopped the next), and trying to get it fixed will leave a sour taste in your mouth. First, you have to pay to ship it to Bushnell. Not totally unexpected, but for something this expensive that didn't last very long...yuck. But then, they charge you $10 so they can ship it back to you. That's just wrong. In the course of trying to diagnose the problem, I took the battery out to check it. Battery was fine, but to open the battery door there's a flimsy piece of plastic that just snaps off. Looks like metal, but it isn't. That's just a really cheap design decision, which makes you wonder about what other cheap design decisions went into the thing, and the fact that it stops working out of the blue starts to make more sense. Then you find out it'll take at least a month before you get it returned to you, and they send you a postcard that has the repair number on it so you can finally get the repair status. A postcard? Really? So, what feels like a cheap design coupled with a sub-standard repair experience, and I'll never get anything from Bushnell again. If I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased a different brand. UPDATE: Finally got the postcard that indicates the repair number. The status is "prepared to ship". However, it's been that for the last 4 business days. Here I thought "prepare to ship" meant it was waiting for a box and a label. Must be more complicated than that. Maybe they have to make the boxes by hand... Groan... 2nd UPDATE: Another year gone, another trip to the repair shop. The range finder worked fine one day, then stopped the next. So, the rangefinder is less than 2 years old, and it's had to be repaired twice. On the plus side, they DID get it back to me faster than the first time. The repair sheet indicated "solar burns". Not sure what that is, but it's not like I point it at the sun or anything (I may not be the greatest golfer, but I'm not stupid). Just normal use - pick it up, take a reading, put it down...repeat. While waiting for it to be returned, I went out and got a Leupold. Seems more rugged than the Bushnell. We'll see how that lasts.
