FINDINGS; THIS UNIT IS NOT DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER I HAVE USED
I HAVE THREE ELECTRONIC BP MONITORS, TWO WRIST AND ONE CUFF; NONE OF THEM SEEM TO BE CORRECT! My suggestion is: for a week take pressure readings at the same time morning and evening (or whenever you make checks.) Alternate taking readings, one day on the left wrist, the next day on your right wrist (or arm using a cuff.) After a week go to a clinic that has BP monitors that are self calibrating, make sure they have been calibrated for the day then check your pressure the same way that you do at home. Compare the clinic reading to your monitor's memory. Most home monitors have a average memory reading, and also daily readings. When you know the difference between the clinic readings and your home readings, add or subtract that amount from your home readings and you should be close. OR................ I ALSO HAVE TWO ANEROID UNITS AND ONE MERCURY COLUMN UNIT. These are more accurate monitors and of these the mercury column is the most accurate. However the operator has to be able to listen (stethoscope) and record when the audible heartbeat comes in (reading) and goes out, (reading.) This is not difficult and YouTube has practice videos/audios where you can learn and test yourself. And don't forget.... yeah more variables: Blood pressure readings are affected by rest time before taking readings, if you have just eaten, if you need to use the toilet, placement of the cuff or wrist monitor, your body position and mood. Have I forgotten anything???? YEAH, don't talk while taking readings. Bottom line: BEING CONSISTENT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO. TAKE READINGS AT THE SAME TIME EVERYDAY. SIT IN THE SAME POSITION EVERYDAY. REST BEFORE TAKING AND DON'T TALK. TRENDS IS WHAT YOU ARE MOSTLY INTERESTED IN. IS MY PRESSURE ON THE RISE, OR STABLE OR DECLINING. I have never had an electronic monitor that had consistent readings that matched the mercury column or aneroid monitors, and of those, even aneroid units varied more than mercury column.
