★★☆☆☆
These work, however there's a huge BUT.
I waited a few months before reviewing these. I wanted to make sure I got enough experience with them first.
I'll preface this by saying I don't have celiac disease, but I am gluten intolerant. If I ingest gluten, I get a rumbling stomach, a bit of bloating, and...lots of gas. It's super fun for my husband.
Now that we've established too much information (I just want anyone who's reading this, that's in my shoes, to understand where I'm coming from!), let's move on.
The first time I used these, it was like angels sang on high, and a light shone down. I ate pancakes, like really really good ones, and felt totally fine! So, I went ahead and plowed through the rest of the week, experimenting with what I could eat with these pills.
Here's what I've found :
1) I can only use this in moderation. Like, once every week or two. Once a month would probably be the wisest route for me. If I try to eat too much gluten, with these as assistance, in a close amount of time, they lose their effectiveness.
2) For me, these don't work with bread of any kind. So heartbreaking! Why it'll work (sort of; see my next point) with other gluten, but not bread, is a mystery to me. Again, this might only apply to me???
3) This 100% keeps me from feeling gluten issues in my stomach, but often, once the food passes through my stomach and hits my intestines, the effectiveness is gone. At this point, it's so not even worth trying to eat any kind of gluten because of the discomfort caused in my lower abdomen.
I know this was long winded, and TMI, but I hope it helps anyone else reading this that might be in the same boat as me!
