We put a man on the moon but can't build a decent pill cutter
Apex Ultra Pill Splitter
We split a ton of pills, almost 100 a month. It's exasperating and time consuming. On top of that, after years of trying, I have yet to find even an acceptable pill splitter. The sad thing is this is the best one I've found. I had to modify it to get it to work. Many people have complained that it broke in a short period of time. The problem is this unit has a plastic "sheild" that covers the blade so you won't get cut.(??) After 6 or 8 pills this shield gets pill dust on it and binds up so you can't
close the top. If you force it, you break it. Cleaning is useless. You just waste time because the pills are abrasive and the shield becomes scratched and binds up. I removed this shield. End of problem! Yes, I still have all my fingers. One thing... Once in a while a split pill might come flying out the back of the splitter. I remedied that by cupping my hand around the back while splitting.
I have one pill that is very flat making it almost impossible to split. I think that's due to the flex in the splitter. Another thing.
Why can't they make one of these with replacable blades?
This is the most rediculous review I've ever written. Somebody PLEASE! Build us a decent pill splitter!! I'd pay $30.00 for a good pill splitter! Maybe more! I'm not rich, I just want one that works.
***CAUTION!!*** I am in no way suggesting you do what I did to this pill cutter. I am simply telling you what I did to make it work. There is the chance you or someone else could get injured by modifying this unit! Any modification you make is solely your responsibility.
