Very bad idea if you're in a humid area
BEWARE! I can't speak to its efficacy regarding breathing issues or general health, but something anyone considering buying anything made of a chunk of salt should keep in mind is that it will attract moisture, then deposit it all over the surface on which it rests. And I'm not talking about a drop, or grain, or two - I'm talking I just discovered a stream of salty deposit that pooled up on top of my bookshelf, then ran all the way down to the floor and under said bookshelf. I thought that the wooden stand might help preclude this (I also have a Himalayan salt votive holder that I had the same problem with), but alas, that is not the case.
I don't live in the tropics, so I would highly caution you that unless you live somewhere like Arizona, you may want to reconsider your lighting choices. Too bad, because it is attractive and casts a nice, warm light.
