The young men who undertook this jungle trek were exceptionally unpleasant people, toward themselves, one another, and the fellow creatures and other animals they met. They were woefully unprepared for life in the jungle, seemed to have no genuine or appropriate survival skills, and failed to plan or prepare for a trip such as they undertook. They were so lacking in foresight and compassion that I didn't care to know more about them after the book's first third and decided not to finish reading their story. Other "lost in the jungle" tales are available with greater rewards for characters and readers alike.
