Add the expanse to the long list of shows that had a great first season, a mediocre second season and came completely off the rails in the third season. Now Amazon owns it and I guess the idea is that the show would be turned around or resurrected or something. Unfortunately, this didn't happen in the 4th season. It needed a great first episode to hook viewers back in, but that's not what happened, unfortunately. What did happen is a lot of characters talking to each other about their feelings and not much else. This thing feels like a daytime soap opera in space. The writing is TERRIBLE! For some reason Avasarala curses like a drunken sailor now, which comes off weird, out of character and feels forced. I guess the producers figured out too late that killing off Miller in the second season was a bad idea so he's still hanging around Holden, shoe horned into the show as some sort of lame ghostly apparition. None of the characters act like they did in the first 2 seasons, it's like watching the same actors play different people. And did I mention how bad the writing is? If you like watching shows that feature a very diverse cast and not much else, this is your show. However, if you are looking for a good science fiction show you'll have to look elsewhere. This is just another agenda driven propaganda piece masquerading as a show. Did I mention how bad the writing is? The first episode is mostly dialogue, and I cringed so much at some of it I think I broke my cringe reflex. The show needs to change it's title from "the Expanse" to "Safe Space".
