Bodum Hits Bottom
I have had the Bodum double-wall glasses for several years now. They are (were) a really great design, aesthetically pleasing, functional and yes, somewhat fragile.
I recently purchased a few new sets. To my surprise I find that the glasses have a rubber/silicone plug on the bottom. Should have read the reviews... Bodum will tell you this is a `vent' but in actually it's a hole left from their new manufacturing process. BEWARE THIS HOLE WILL LEAK in-between the inner and outer shell. I washed four (4) of the new glasses in the dishwasher, top rack. Two (2) immediately leaked, the others leaked within in 2nd-3rd washing. Contacted Bodum's customer service, "LEAKING IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY". You will be left with a set of expensive, foggy/wet/dirty looking glasses. I promptly returned all my new glasses for a refund.
Bodum's new manufacturing process makes for a smother rim between the inner and outer shells of the glass but for some reason they are unable to seal the glasses at the bottom with glass as they had been when handmade. This new design is significantly flawed and disappointing.
You've been warned. I'd give them no stars if I could.
