I gave this a low rating because of several cosmetic items. First, right out of the box i noticed the rubber gasket on the glass lid is not rounded completely it has flaws in it. Also where the gasket seals it is rough. But the seal works. I expected the handle on the glass lid to be metal but of course it is “plastic” so not sure how long it will last. When you lock down the lid it is not a stable fit it will move around. And as it cooks some splatter got out of the seal onto the counter top. Then after i loaded all my raw food in first time and turned it on “THE DAMN ON LITE” would not come on. I figured “oh well here is another “hecho in china” product that didnt pass”. But, the cooker worked, i just dont have a lite that lets you know its on. I also didnt like the containment of the outer body, its “flimsy” and “weak” its not a solid metal outer body feel. If you were to drop the outer body on the floor it would crumble. Its as strong as a manilla file folder. Now the insert is very strong and very heavy but was scratched up. When it started to cook it smelled like an “electrical burn” but later went away. As far as cooking it did well. I bought this because i wanted a larger capacity cooker. I cook in large amounts and freeze my meals ahead of time for shift work. I have an older (about 20 years) crock pot cooker that is very solid, still works but is only a 5 quart capacity. I was excited when i got my new Hamilton Cooker and was gonna throw away my old Cooker but guess what? You cant beat old reliable new technology. If you have something old and it works, KEEP IT! These new products these days are so cheaply and quickly made they are so disappointing!
