I recently switched from Tivo OTA to Fire Recast TV (review coming) and the new box has much lower reception than Tivo. I lost a bunch of Over Th Air channels including my favorite NBC. So I bought a couple of signal boosters at a local retail store. Those were cheap, and useless. Did not do anything to improve the signal. Note I'm about 40 miles away from the tower, so a simple Antenna+Booster combination should work. I red all the reviews about this one and was excited to try it. I currently have a regular old ugly looking antenna on my attic, No idea about the range of this one, but I also know that when you set the antenna in the attic it may lose up to 50% of its range. So an indoor antenna would work much better, no? Incorrect. My old ugly antenna can pick up 70 channels (half with poor signal) on Fire Recast TV, and this one, to my surprise, only 50! And it even lost other high signal channels, such as ABC and Fox! Gladly I had bought a booster too, so I tried the booster here at Amazon (Skywalker Signature Series SKY38323 25dB ) and this one did the trick with my old antenna. I have now 92 channels and NBC came back. Albeit, not 100% strong as it used to on Tivo, not sure what the deal is. So if you can't get an ugly looking metal antenna and set it on your Attic, this may be for you. But if you can set up a regular old fashion antenna in your attic, or better on your roof. Stay away. This antenna DOES NOT reach even 60 miles, much less 80. Fake news!
