No Good For My Puller
After reading so many glowing reviews, we were excited to try the Thunderleash for my 50 pound, VERY enthusiastic, bull dog/border collie mix. Unfortunately, the leash didn't work for us at all; in fact, she pulled WAY worse than ever while wearing it! It seems that this type of product works only for dogs who tend to be more of the sensitive persuasion. If your dog is the type, like mine, that is SO excitable, and bull headed, that when she sees another dog, NOTHING else in the world even exists at that moment, this product will most likely be useless to you. Actually, she pulled terribly even when there wasn't another dog around. She just gets so darn excited about everything, that she doesn't even seem to notice the pressure on her chest from the leash. Unfortunately, the slight discomfort just isn't enough to stop my determined girl from pulling like an Alaskan sled dog, lol. However, clearly, the leash has helped many people who have dogs that are probably a little less excitable and/or stubborn, so it was worth a try. For us, the leash is going back, and we will return to our leash training exercises, of constant turning in circles, which stops the pulling, but makes for a rather dizzying walk (where we don't get very far!), not to mention the neighbors all think I'm wacky! Oh Well.... And just to note: we have tried the head halter (Gentle Leader), Easy Walk Harness, and Prong Collar. Only thing we haven't tried is the SImple Leash Shock Collar. While I'd rather not resort to that, it may be our last option for my bull headed but oh so lovable little girl....
