Political Theater: Not Wheel of Time
<Contains what some might consider spoilers>. Robert Jordan is probably rolling over in his grave because of this overly woke non-sense. Everything referring to the books should be renamed so as to not tarnish the series. Seems to be more of political statement instead of trying to recreate the vision of the series. I get we can't match the books scene for scene, word for word, but if we are going to call it The Wheel of Time, then let's do it well. Some granular perspectives: + Fades were well done, very convincing. Gave me the willies just like in the books. + Liked Thom's character, cast well, a bit melancholy + Padan Fain was cast well +/- I tried hard to like Shadar Logoth. Seeing the Trollocs pushed by Fades only to be eaten by the mist would have been even better +/- I tried to like the Trollocs but it didn't seem to fit. Their mannerisms were well done. - The Two Rivers: one of the most secluded towns in west of the spine of the world with folks that usually never see outsiders or venture forth, yet its as diverse as midtown Manhattan on a Thursday afternoon. As the characters venture out from the Two Rivers they are supposed to be exposed to the diversity of the world and its many kingdoms and wonders. The farther they travel the broader their views. - No reference to the sheep herder with the Heron marked blade. No mention of it at all. - Where did Caemlyn go with Elayne and all the other critical characters? Not to mention Logain seeing Rand on the roof top. - So far, no Elyas explaining to Perrin what's happening. Not to mention Perrin's character and angst is all wrong. Where's the wicked axe from the Blacksmith? Oh wait he's married and killed his wife... - Warders: Why is Lan such a weakling? If Moiraine was sobbing then Lan might have had a single tear shed. "Duty is heavy as a mountain, death is lighter than a feather." No color shifting cloaks? How awesome this would have been. - Moiraine traveling and in a sexual relationship with the A. Seat? This is where I turned it off. Essentially almost every character is wrong and the plot twisted to some political perversion of what is a fantastic epic tale of some simple folk from the Two Rivers.
