stress fractures in the frame after 2 weeks of use
After about 2 weeks of use during the COVID debacle, I already see brittle stress fractures in the wood around the connection points and running nearly half the length of the vertical A-frame support beams.
I have 2 little girls, age 3 and 5. Combined, they weight about 80 pounds. They're significantly smaller than the kids shown in the display pictures posted for this product on Amazon, and certainly shouldn't be enough to cause damage to a kid's swing set due to weight.
It's not that I over-torqued the bolts, either; I have an engineering background, and I assembled everything exactly as directed.
The problem as I see it is that the framing wood included in the hardware is brittle. It's extremely light weight, which probably plays well with shipping costs and makes assembly easier; on the other hand, it's also indicative of soft wood with low tensile strength. The wood included with the kit isn't suitable for building a safe piece of equipment.
I would give this product zero stars if Amazon would allow it.
