Did Not Work
Got this after reading many great reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. Loved the idea of it repelling the parasites rather than killing them AFTER they bite your pet as is the case with Frontline. We applied it per the directions and waited for the dog's itching and scratching to subside. After a day or two it seemed better. Then the scratching returned about 2 weeks later. Found several LIVE fleas on our dog, and worst of all they were filled with blood, meaning they had bitten and fed. Reread the directions and it said to not apply more than once a week if needed. OK. A monthly application that may need to be applied weekly? So after only two weeks we re-applied it, again following the directions. Sad to say the poor dog has more fleas now than ever. We're returning the remainder for a refund. If it would have worked as advertised this could have been a 5 star review. In our experience not only did it not work as advertised to repel the fleas, but it didn't even kill them at all. Perhaps we got a bad batch? We're now on Vectra 3D which costs twice as much and can only be gotten from the vet. After just one day the fleas (and scratching) are gone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they don't return. UPDATE: Tried the Vectra 3D and it also did not work. That's TWO top-rated topical flea treatments that had no positive results. It's entirely possible the Advantix II will work great for you... It just didn't work for us. Went to the vet and got Comfortis (oral tablet) and within a couple of hours all the fleas were dead. Yay! Moral of the story: topical applications simply do not work for our dog. Hopefully this helps someone else in a similar situation.
