Major problems with recipes, do not buy
It's costing me $1.60 to return this book (I paid $9 and am getting $7.40 refunded), so I write this review as a caution for others to avoid it. I thought this book sounded great seeing it had so many 5 star reviews. I eagerly opened it when it arrived today and started thumbing through the pages and reading the recipes ready to select the ones I wanted to start with.
One of the first recipes I came across for Summer Chicken Sandwiches calls for 1/2 lb whole chicken. Am I to go buy a whole chicken and randomly hack off 1/2 lb from it? And what part? Clearly a typo, but not one I can even work with.
Another recipe, in the same chapter, called Chicken Drumsticks with Lemon Sauce, calls for "2 chicken drumsticks, boneless and skinless." Are you flipping kidding me? Two problems with this: 1. Two drumsticks from a chicken isn't going to cut it for a dinner for my husband and I, unless I'm also whipping up a hearty side. But really 2. ARE YOU SERIOUSLY ASKING FOR BONELESS AND SKINLESS DRUMSTICKS?!?!! What kind of witchcraft is that?
I don't know if anyone reading this is familiar with Henry's Kitchen, but it reminds me of when he cut down a chili recipe that serves 8 down to chili for just 1. And it turns out hilariously terrible due to pretty poor execution. Unfortunately this book isn't a comedy show on YouTube, but the recipes are sadly laughable. Do not recommend, it seems like a scam of a book that isn't worth wasting good food testing the recipes. Read those 5 star reviews closely, because there's no way all those people are finding 5-star worthiness in this cookbook.
