I love this thing so much, and yet... Nope.
I was so excited to get this grinder for my new apartment as I'd heard only excellent things about it from a trusted source. I wish that my rating here reflected that excitement, but the honeymoon is over and an annulment may be in order.
In all ways (that matter to me), this is a wonderful grinder that does a fantastic job swiftly, with minimal direction, and across a delightful variety of coarseness. It is surprisingly quiet for the speed and consistency of the grind, and frankly, is handsome addition to my stainless steel kitchen. The ONLY reason I cannot give this machine a better regard is for the sole flaw in its design: coffee grounds get everywhere.
The catastrophe does not occur while you are grinding, thankfully! That bit slides effortlessly into the generously-sized cup with the sealing cap secured properly, which is a breeze. It is when you dare retrieve those freshly pulverized beans that you end up with a sprinkle, a shower, and sometimes a complete *splut* of lovely, and now wasted, powdered beans. While the loss is not great (a tsp every 3/5 cups), the caffalanche cascades all over the base (what holds up the cup), and your counter, unless you physically lift the grinder and tip/shake vigorously for a couple of seconds to encourage the chute to finish dropping its load... while holding the cup in place on the silly thing so that your floor does not collect a cuppa itself.
This is a small design flaw, yes, but I sincerely resent having to rough-up my brand new, shiny, not-cheap grinder before I can make a cup of coffee in the morning. I mean, avoiding unnecessary violence is part of the reason we drink coffee between the bedsheets and the spreadsheets, yeah?
