★★☆☆☆
The New Howard reveals all !! But not in this book.
So if you were looking for a follow up to Private Parts, this is not your book. This is more like an organized transcription of his best interviews. If you think I am being sarcastic or exaggerating, I am sorry to say I am not. There is a nice introduction by Howard, and interspersed through are some comments by him (and Donald Trump ironically), but other than that, all you are getting is the written down evidence of his finest interviews. Shockingly enough, as funny as Howard is, this is not a pleasant read. His interviews meander, and have good pacing and moments of levity and joy when you listen on the radio, however when you see them in the cold, hard print, they lose a lot of their charm. This is not the book we all wanted. This is not the book he is advertising on his promotional tour. The book we wanted is an in depth explanation and discourse on the last twenty years of his life (his divorce, his move to Sirius, his maturation as a broadcaster (well, some of us want that, others hate it), but anything that would give you a glimpse into his mind. This book reads like an old usenet forum of Howard interviews. Take a hard pass. You didn't miss anything. Much like missing the show these days. If you forget to listen for a day, you didn't miss anything.
