Is something missing from the ingredient list?
I've been using yacon syrup long before it was available through Anazon, finding it at health food stores. Everyone I've bought that was 100% natural, and I've probably tried 6 different brands, have always had some hardening/congealing. 100% pure yacon syrup is high in fructan so it tends to congeal, (as honey sometimes does). Maybe because I've gotten use to it but I don't see this as a huge deal. I either keep my bottle upside down (standing on it's cap) so the hardened part is at the opening and easily scoopable or if I had the bottle right side up and the hardened part is at the bottom, I simple put the bottle in a mug of warm water while I make my coffee. Once my coffee is done, the yacon is usually pourable by then.
This brand lists yacon syrup as its only ingredient but it's obviously thinner in consistency. I wrote/emailed the company over a week ago noting this and asked if they could tell me how the yacon was processed (assuming they were being honest in their ingredient listing and hadn't added water or something else to their syrup). I didn't want to accuse them of watering it down but If they didn't add something to water it down, in my mind I was wondering what they did to it's pure form to thin it out. I waited to hear back from them before writing this review but they never answered.
The taste was fine, less intense than other brands I've tried and it ran out way faster. But I have health concerns and don't want to take anything that's not 100% natural and since I can't be sure with this brand, I won't be purchasing it again. The brand I buy most often is the Yacon Syrup Gold so that's the one I'll go back to buying. The only reason I tried the Zint brand was because it said it was 100% yacon and it was $4 less than the Gold price. I see that now it went up in price by $4. But even if it was still less expensive, I still wouldn't purchase this brand again.
