READ THIS BEFORE YOU BUY A VIZIO
Warning – read this before you buy a Vizio TV. On October 5, 2013 I ordered from Amazon a Vizio M701d-A3R 70-inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D Smart LED HDTV for $2,198.00. On April 20, 2015, while watching a hockey game the bottom third of the TV screen went black with some pixels showing through in distorted colors. The picture is pretty much unwatchable. I contacted Vizio support on April 21, 2015 and we walked through some troubleshooting tasks with no luck on resolving the issue. Vizio sent an email with a link to upload photos to help diagnose the problem. I uploaded 3 photos as instructed and received another email noting that a representative would contact me within two business days. On April 23, 2015 a Vizio representative contacted me and informed me there was definitely a problem with the TV - it was a backlight issue. The representative then stated that the TV was “not repairable” and since it was out of the manufacturer original warranty that there was nothing they could do. I was transferred to a manager, Sam Doerr, who I discussed the situation with. I explained that the TV was 18 months old, I paid over $2,000 for it and now it has an unrepairable issue and Vizio is not supporting their product. Sam informed me that I was out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. I have a $2,000 piece of electronics (junk) that I will need to pay someone to remove from my home. I cannot believe that Vizio has an expectation that their products will only last 12 months.
