A special guest of the eternal electronics junkyard
Please read if you're considering buying this.
I've owned a Zebra label printer for years. I've printed thousands of labels flawlessly, without a single issue or jam. But this Dymo 450 printer - there is a special place reserved for it in the eternal junkyard of electronics. Never have I used such a device so incapable of performing its advertised function. It seems unable to print labels, but it does have a blue LED that blinks repeatedly (I've never had a paperweight that did that).
I'm trying to print (Dymo brand) 1x0.5" labels. The printer has one job. It cannot seem to get labels through more than one print job at a time without impressively jamming itself by wrapping labels around it's internal spinner 10 times before making some terrible noises and the blue LED flashing on the front. Mind you, even if you remove the front cover and hold the "release" button, it is an incredible pain to get all of the labels out. It's like if an object were to be wrapped in 100 layers of plastic wrap and then super glue sealed - one does simply not press a "release" button in that situation. It requires a precise surgical operation that most people do not have the time or patience for. Yes, I've read the manual.
The issue seems to be due in part to the label "guide". However, once the guide is set, it never fails to let the labels slip under it and mislead them into the feeder resulting in a jam. I've printed on this printer successfully maybe 5 times. And unsuccessfully more than that. Even when it's "successful", labels sometime get sucked backwards and bent around the edges. It is a mystery to me.
I would not recommend buying this because it is inexpensive. In fact, I'd suggest it's very overpriced. If someone is reading this that can do something about it, please refund my money for the printer and label roll, or send me a comparable Zebra printer.
P.S. The software is nice. Unfortunately it does not work with my Zebra printer, and causes the Dymo printer to harm itself.
