Ecobee blames others.
I previously installed the ecobee3 at my old house and loved it. A few months ago my wife and I bought a new house and luckily (I thought) the ecobee4 was being released. I find it to be fine when it actually works, but the wifi connection always drops and ecobee is trying to play the blame game. If you have Comcast or any company that uses an arris router they will tell you this... "There are compatibility issues with the ecobee thermostats and the Arris routers." That is a direct quote from Ecobee Support. This is a huge issue and the fact that they want to blame a very common router used by major internet providers is horrible. If you google this issue I'm not the only one and there are a few Reddit articles dedicated to it. So now I have a thermostat that I paid $250 for and had the same functionality of a $15 one. ***Update*** Ecobee sent me this e-mail when I requested to exchange for an ecobee3 and the difference in a refund because of the software issues they are having: We're only able facilitate returns within 30 days of purchase. If your records indicate otherwise, please forward us the proof of purchase. Unfortunately, we're not able to share a timeline for a software fix. For that, we sincerely apologize. We release software updates regularly, but we not able to share the details of upcoming software releases. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience. Regards, ecobee Support
