The dimmer could have been great but instead it flops due to some really poor software and a massive feature flaw. Setup - Poor Connections and a Worse App I've set up 3 other smart dimmers in other rooms to try out brands and this one had the most issues. Even if you ignore the connectivity issues with setup, the app is awful. Always On Location Services - Not for the Privacy Minded It requests your location constantly, even when you are not using the app or trying to do anything with the dimmer. The app will flat out crash and refuse open if you try to only give it location access "when using this app" instead of "always" and you will get tons of notifications that its harvesting your data (either poor programing or shady data mining). Dimmer Memory - Dealbreaker for Most Believe it or not, this dimmer has no built-in memory function. This is an absolute deal breaker when using it to control recessed LED lights. Recessed LED cans are always way too bright at 100% and you need to use dimmers to keep them at a comfortable level. However, every other dimmer I have used has been able to solve this problem with built in memory. i.e. If you have the light dimmed to 50%, hit the off button, then turn the light back on, it SHOULD go back to 50%... not this dimmer, it will always reset to 100%. I can't believe this is a thing, but I've already reset and spent way too much time trying to fix it. There is no reason they should rely on "scenes" or other 3rd party smart house features to have this function. You can use the down button instead of the regular button, but that's just a silly design/compromise. Closing Thoughts I need to mention that I really wish this dimmer was better and there is a chance they could fix all my issues in firmware and software. I love the design and the price is solid. They could have done so much more with just a tiny bit of development. For example, the light ring is either always on or always off... but it has a RGB led with dimming... there is no legitimate reason they shouldn't let you customise that color and brightness (thousands of PC hardware products do it with the same hardware). It hurts to see how great this could have been... but I can't recommend this dimmer due to the issues above.
