It's OK, but could have been made ergonomically more comfortable and infinitely durable for another $2 to $5 dollars.
The scoop glides through cat litter nicely since it is steel. The back of the scoop will pool quite a bit of litter since there are far fewer holes. This requires you to tilt the scoop forward to avoid a lot of litter waste. Unfortunately, this can cause the poop or pee clump to fall off the scoop back into the litter
I agree with other reviewers that the handle is folded over and not solid which can be uncomfortable when gripping with your hand. They should have folded the edges completely over so that your hand only contacts nice curved surfaces.
I am an engineer and I expect that the scoop may break away from the handle since they are attached by only 5 small spot welds. Spot welds are a brittle joint and do not respond well to repeated bending loads. The scoop should have been integral with the handle in one forging to make a scoop that would never fail.
The handle could have been solid steel instead of thin plate stock. This would not add much cost to the scoop since you can buy steel for $1 a lb. I get quotes all of the time from suppliers so I know the material cost is not excessive. This is a classic example where someone designed a 3 star scoop to try to minimize the cost instead of making an optimized 5 star product.
Updated picture so you can see what the scoop looks like after use. Clay litter sticks to the metal scoop like mud which did not happen with my plastic scoop. This is a problem when the pee clumps against the side of the litter pan. It is kind of gross and unsanitary from a bacteria standpoint.
