Walabust :-(
Tech guy review here. I was very excited when I saw this device at CES and kept an eye out for it. As soon as I saw it on Amazon, I purchased it. I unboxed it and attached it to my Andriod phone via the magnet. I tried it first in my home, which is standard studs and drywall. I calibrated and scan 8 walls. The device's output was useless. It did not detect the studs, wires, or pipes. I played with the sensitivity settings for about 30 minutes before the Walabot overheated my phone and killed the battery. I assumed it was a problem with my phone. I also did not like the fact that the magnet was not strong enough to keep it from falling off. A few days later I took it to work and borrowed my colleague's phone. He has a newer more powerful Android phone. The walls at work are a combination of brick walls with furring strips and drywall and metal stud with drywall. I tested the device on several of the walls. At first, I thought the device was working, until I cheated and opened up the ceiling tiles to expose the stud locations. Most of what I saw was misreadings. It also killed his phone battery too. So much for the thought of it being an issue with my phone. Conclusion: The idea behind this gadget gets a solid B. At best, I would say that this is a very expensive stud finder that I would grade a D. As far as the features of being able to find electric lines, pipes, and seeing inside walls, this device gets an F. I would never grab this tool over my Black & Decker BullsEye. I do still love the idea and I hope that the company improves the device in the future. For now, I'm returning this one. I will keep an eye out for version 2.0.
