The lock works fine, the video quality is iffy. Here’s why. Anytime video is captured, it’s because motion is detected, which means the keypad lights are lit up and that interferes with video quality because it looks like a video was filmed from a Christmas tree. Also, if you want to just check in and see what’s happening from the camera, you can’t. Motion has to be detected in order to view video. Same goes for locking or unlocking remotely. You can’t do it unless there’s motion detected at the time you’re trying to lock or unlock. So if you lay down to go to bed and go “oh shoot did I lock the door?”, you can open the app and see that it’s locked or unlocked, but you can’t lock it remotely. You have to drag your SELF out of bed and go lock it manually. That said, the install was relatively straight forward if you have a setup where your handle and deadbolt are separate. If you have an all in one knob and deadbolt setup, stay away from this product. I had to make way too many bootleg adjustments to the cutout in my door to make this work. So now, if I don’t like this lock, I’ll probably need a new door. Finally, I guess I’ll comment on the video storage package. To get any video at all, you have to pay a monthly fee. It’s worth pointing out that Arlo cams offer something like 7 days of free storage for recorded interactions. I live in a condo in a corner unit, so the video is filming down my hallway.
