If I Could Give Minus A One Star Rating , I WOULD....
I bought the book because I wanted a quick read. It's not a genre I usually read but decided I'd try it based on the fact that it was a best seller. I usually read reviews before I buy a book...this time I didn't...and I'm really sorry I didn't. I noticed besides being a best seller, it was rated 4 stars so I figured it had to be fairly good. I was WRONG.
By the time I was a few chapters into the book I wanted to stop reading. It is written in rather a mechanical style and I felt it repetitious and predictable. The two main characters seemed rather implausible and the woman was BEYOND dumb.
I kept reading however, because I figured with 4 stars for the review rating, and in that it was a best-seller, it would get better....it didn't.
By the time so was half way through, I decided that even though it was a totally disappointing purchase with a disgusting story line, I wanted to finish it so I could see how the author ended this mess AND so I could write an accurate review as a reader of the book.
Do NOT waste your money, your time, or your reading pleasure on this book. The story line is underdeveloped, fairly fantastical in it's presentation ....in that almost ANY fool could climb out the bathroom window at a dinner party, call out to police on the street ( in the big city of London, no less), crash their car while driving home, or simply lay down on the floor at one of the many dinner parties (mentioned in the story) and simply REFUSE to go until the police were called. Hello????! The story is totally implausible.
Besides the poor construction of the story, the main premise of the book was so base in using a mentally disabled child as the primary target that it lost the excitement of a good 'thriller. It was too revolting to be entertaining as a good read. Why waste your mind, time, or money on crap like this....I strong do NOT recommend this book. I am amazed it was published.
