Fermented dates caused package to expand to the point of almost bursting. At first I thought the bag was some new type of "super packaging" for freshness. But then we realized that it really looked like it was ready to explode like a balloon that's been overfilled (I added 2 pictures of the bag) My wife said "something is wrong here", but I assumed the dates would be fine and punctured the package to hear a loud hiss release. They smelled as if they had fermented, but they looked great so I took a small bite and had to spit it out.......nasty and fermented. When I tried to return them Amazon's return page said they were not returnable. I wrote Amazon a note and hopefully they will credit my account. Paying over $18 with tax for rotten dates is totally unacceptable.
