I've used wet wipes for years. I started with baby wipes, not thinking about my septic system. My husband talked me into switching to a flushable wipe about six months ago. Everything seemed fine and I kept purchasing Cottonelle wipes over and over. Also about six months ago I started having cracking and bleeding and severe itching around my "wiped area". Going to the doctor resulted in a herpes test that came back negative and then a COLON CANCER SCREENING! The doctors as well as I were baffled... and I was scared with what was next trying to figure out what in the hell is going on with my butt! The pain, the itching, the bleeding, the severe burning! I thought I was seriously going to lose my mind trying to live with this issue that had no name. When the colon cancer screening was presented to me, I went home terrified and googled anal bleeding, as that seemed to be my doctor's main concern. Low and behold, there it was....story after story of the exact same issues experienced by all these people who all had the same thing in common!!!!! Cottonelle moist wipes. The chemical methylchloroisothiazolinone causes severe reactions in people that are allergic to it. It was so strong that it was also starting to affect my hand. Absolutely ridiculous that these things are still on the shelves.
