Bought this to prepare for Nest Hello smart doorbell. Along with this I purchased a beefier transformer (16V 30W). Setup was ok but the hole you squeeze all the wires through is way to small. It’s the opposite of putting a toothpick into an airplane hanger. Got the wires through. I have two doorbell buttons. One for front and one for rear. The rear one has single tone and the front has dual tone. Ding vs ding dong. That works as long as you install this thing horizontally and not vertically. Whatever. No big deal. Front and rear both work. Fast forward a few days and I get my nest door bell. Install on nest is a breeze. One problem. The rear button works but the front (the one with the nest doesn’t). It simply does not chime. I have tried a combination of things of which I won’t go into here but it didn’t work. I ended up buying a Hampton bay electronic 16 tone doorbell ($35) and it worked out of the box. Moral of the story: don’t buy this if you are hooking up a smart doorbell. It’s just not worth the hassle. It’s soft toned and you can barely hear it. On top of that, it won’t work with smart doorbells. At least it didn’t with the Nest. Spend the extra $20 and get an electronic one which you can control the volume and chime tones. Oh, and I didn’t return this door bell chime. I took it into the back yard and shot it with my 45 and threw it away. POS. I don’t even want amazon to gave to deal with that crap. Cheers.
