Not wool. I read other reviewers claiming this hat was not wool, but I thought for less than $10 it was worth the risk. Hat arrived, and is made of cheap synthetic material that has been made scratchy like wool, maybe rayon. My father came over and suggested we test my assertion by taking a lighter to it. Sure enough, it caught on fire and melted like only plastic does, and the smell was unmistakable. This hat doesn’t look, feel or burn like a natural fiber and won’t keep you warm like wool either. The only thing wool about this is their false advertising in big bold letters “100% wool” and making it scratchy so we could all suffer as if we were wearing something that would actually keep us warm. Edit: after watching a Youtube video of how different fibers burn, I am pretty sure the hat is made from Acrylic.
