I was instantly approved with a $1500 limit, so I made a $160 purchase and cashed in on my $70 gift card. About a week later, I get the card in the mail. I call to activate it and am informed my account has been closed by Chase (after 6 days). I was told that I was approved by their computer system, but after a person reviewed my application, it was declined and the account was closed. I am waiting on a 3rd superviser to call me back (which takes 24-48 hours, you can't be transferred). I don't really care about the credit card, I more so applied for the $70 gift card to get my coffee pot I wanted. My point of frustration is that I would rather have been declined than have an account on my credit report that was closed by the bank (which reflects negatively on me). In my 42 years, I have never heard of such a thing happening.
