A gimmick...and not a very good one at that!
I didn't purchase my Keurig 2.0 on Amazon. I received it as a gift. I thought, however, that I'd take the opportunity to review this product anyway because it wouldn't MATTER where I purchased it....it would be just as much a piece of crap. I had a Keurig...a nice one, with lots of features that I liked. For example, I could use any kind of K-cup out there and I found one that I really, really liked. I can't use that one anymore. Keurig has made the new 2.0 so that you can't use the little cup that held regular coffee. And it has to be an "official" k-cups because the new 2.0 reads the lettering on the rim of the new ones. As far as the carafe? It's a good idea in theory to have a little pot that will brew (supposedly) up to 6 cups of coffee (even more on some of the fancier, more expensive models). But in reality, you can only get a little over 2 regular sized cups of coffee from the carafe. Any more and it would definitely be too weak. The 4-cup setting is really pushing it...in my opinion. And I don't prefer especially strong coffee. In addition, the K-Carafes are expensive - anywhere from $16-$20 for 8 K-Carafes (which is approximately 18-20 cups of coffee.
It's a gimmick...and not even a very good one at that. Keurig is trying to dominate the K-cup market and whoever buys this machine will be sucked right into it. I'm on the fence about returning mine, but I haven't quite decided yet.
