Inaccuracies for the period and errors galore!!
The most important aspect of writing a historical romance is to get the damned details of the period correct! Otherwise, one should stick to writing about the 21st century! Ms. Devon talks about towering, powdered hair and stomachers, and on the next page, talks about how fat "Prinny" was. Newsflash! While Prinny was born in the 1760s, he did not become grossly fat until around 1810, and the hair and clothing fashions she highlights had died out somewhere between 1780 and 1800! Consistency is key in period novels and Ms. Devon did not do her homework to ensure that her stories were accurate portrayals of the period. Additionally, the book is rife with a ridiculous amount of typos, excess words, misplaced words, grammar and punctuation errors and, more annoying, misused words. The words are brooch, not broach, placket, not placate, and dour, not dower!! My God, doesn't anyone learn proper English or use a dictionary any more?! Two words of advice...dictionary dot com should be your best friend if you are a weak writer and hire a damned editor before you publish such dreck!
