Cheap gloves, Youngstown does not stand behind "Unconditional Guarantee".
I purchased these gloves in June 2011, and except for a weekend session putting in a couple of new exterior doors, they sat on my workbench for the remainder of the record-heat Texas summer.
When the cooler weather of the Fall finally rolled around a few weeks ago, I broke them out to do some yard work. I chopped wood, moved paver stones, chain-sawed dead trees and moved them by hand, seeded my lawn, spread compost with a shovel, pulled thorny vines and bushes, raked leaves, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary for normal lawn care on a large lot. I would say that I put a solid 40-50 hours of work with them in that time.
I was really pleased with them until after about two weeks of part-time use, I looked down and my finger was sticking out of a hole in the gloves. I kept using them and by the end of the day, they were falling apart (I will post pictures as well).
I was pretty disappointed by this, so I went to their website to look up the warranty info. Their site has an "Unconditional Guarantee" that reads ( [...]) :
"Each customer has a different belief for the life expectancy of their glove. Furthermore, it is not uncommon that the glove you have selected is not a match to the job you are performing.
We stand behind our gloves 100%. Therefore, we offer an Unconditional Guarantee. If you are not satisfied with your Youngstown gloves, we will replace the pair or work with you to get you into the right model. "
Given this iron-clad statement, I emailed Youngstown and asked what the next step was. The response I got wasn't exactly what I expected. It read:
"Have you contacted Amazon? It's a little tough considering it has been 4 months. Can you send pictures of the gloves?"
I considered this entirely unsatisfactory and completely contrary to their "Unconditional Guarantee". A $25 pair of gloves wasn't really worth arguing with a customer service that rebuked me on the first attempt, so I contacted Amazon. Amazon kindly (and not surprisingly, Amazon is great) reimbursed me 80% of the purchase price. I considered that fair since these gloves lasted about as long as the $5 pairs I usually get from a big box store.
In summary- stay away from these gloves and the Youngstown Gloves company. They are not worth the price at all, and the company does not stand behind their product. I would give these gloves no stars if possible.
