I had this drive for a year before it failed. Seems very common - I can only assume all the 5 star reviews are people who JUST got it, but I'm curious how many of those people still have functioning drives. I know I was impressed when I first got it.
This is the second Seagate drive to fail on me after less than a year of use; any reasonable person would conclude that Seagate products are unreliable, and Seagate company policy depends too much on promoting their ability to potentially fix the issue (for a fee) rather than prevent it in the first place. They know these drives will fail, that is why there is a "Limited" warranty, not a "Lifetime" warranty.
Find a different product, save yourself the outrage that will occur when 1TB of your files become a hostage of Seagate - you can MAYBE get them back, if you pay more than twice what the drive itself cost you.
Furthermore, I know Seagate likes to reply to negative reviews on their products with a stock message. I'm not interested, save yourself the keystrokes.
