Poorest Quality Of All Tested
Over the past two decades I have used pretty much every brand of this type of infuser at least twice a day and sometimes as many as five times a day. They each have their pros and cons. I liked the look of this one and decided to give it a try. There are things that I immediately like and things that I immediately disliked. Here's an easy list of pros and cons: PROS * It is larger that most and a bit lower/shorter with the result is that it's easier to clean * The little "spire" atop the filter makes it easy to grasp and remove, again making cleaning eaiser * The little "saucer" that it rests on is a little bigger than other brands, making it less likely to miss centering the infuser which could result in leaks CONS * It began to leak after only a few months use no matter how well I cleaned it whereas other brands didn't leak for years * It is quite a bit more expensive that competing infusers of the same style * The lid is curved concave increasing the probability of overfilling/spilling and making it difficult to judge filling to the desired level A design flaw common to ALL infusers of this type is how the lid is attached to the infuser. The lid has two little recessed "dimples" that clip over two upward reaching "paddles" with little bumps that pressure fit into the lid's dimples. When you clip off the lid to empty tea leaves and wash it the little clip "paddles" at the top of the handle protrude making it very awkward to invert the infuser to "tap" on the edge of a garbage bin, dislodging the tea leaves inside. You can't hold it by the handle and tap the very edge upside down without breaking the "paddles" so your alternative is to not have the infuser entirely above the garbage bin and get tea leaves outside or all over the rim. If you're lucky enough to have a larger garbage receptacle for the tea leaves then you can tap the "far end" of the infuser, away from the handle. A simple redesign of the the lid clips, moving the "paddles" to the lid and the "dimples" to the infuser would eliminate this problem. All of the above being said, I'm ordering my next infuser because the leak of the GROSCHE model has now become really bad. I am going back to the Teavana infuser until I find something better, but I'll not be trying the GROSCHE brand again.
